Dr. John G. Oster

Education/Training
Origionally from upstate New York, Dr. Oster received his M.D. degree from the Albany Medical College and was chief resident during his ophthalmology training at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. Dr. Oster continued with sub-specialty training and completed a fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the New England Eye Center in Boston, Massachusetts. While in Boston, Dr. Oster was appointed to Instructor in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear infirmary of Harvard University. He also served as the Director of the Cornea Service at the Jamaica Plains VA Hospital.

Membership/Affiliations
Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Oster is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.). Additionally, he is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery, and the Colorado Ophthalmological Society. Dr. Oster began using the excimer laser to treat corneal disorders in 1995, has taught several courses on laser vision correction, and has lectured at national and international meetings. He served on TLC's Surgeon Pillar Advisory Board, TLC's Vendor Product Review Team, and serves as the proctoring surgeon for other TLC surgeons.

Honors/Accomplishments
Dr. Oster has been a participant in the CRS multi-center study to evaluate LASIK for the surgical treatment of myopia. Additionally, he was chosen to be a principal investigator for the LaserSight FDA LASIK clinical trial for myopia or hyperopia, with and without astigmatism. Dr. Oster has been named a VISX Star Surgeon based on performance as a refraction surgeon. This ranking places Dr. Oster in the top 5% of refractive surgeons nationwide.

Dr. Oster is a corneal specialist accepting referrals for corneal transplantation and cataract surgery.
